Welcome lovely people!
In celebration of March, my birth month, I decided to compile a lovely little list of amazing Bookish Gifts (that aren’t books!) for the bookworm in your life!
We’ve all been there, 1 day to go and still scarpered for a birthday pressie idea. Put the bookstore gift card down my friends, I’m here with the answer you’ve been looking for! Yay!
Some of these are wacky, some are adorable and some are even DIY for those of you that love to craft and create memorable pressies. So without further ado and in no particular order, I give you:
Folio Society, Clockwork Orange
Okay, so I know I said these weren’t books but stay with me, these books are something special.
The Folio Society genuinely give me life, their insta-feed is so damn beautiful – please check it out immediately if you’re so inclined.
(Obviously, after you’re done reading this awesome list!)
They produce stunningly gorgeous editions of some of literature’s greatest works, from the classics to more modern endeavours, you can find something for everyone here.
What’s better is they generally have a book to fit every budget, prices range from £30 to excess of £100 for some of the sets. Anything you find here will be a gift to remember, and, likely to be cherished for years to come.
I actually don’t use bookmarks, I’m one of those monsters who dog ears the corner of my pages.
But! I adore bookmarks all the same, and these ones – oh boy are they beauts!
Based in the Philippines, you can peruse their latest designs on Etsy (link above) or follow them on Instagram to stay up to date on all their latest works.
I love the chunky width of their bookmarks, and their designs range from unique like the one above, to super minimalist like their range of Hogwarts house marks.
The best part is that they don’t break the bank – and shipping while varying depending on where you are, isn’t unreasonable at all. These would also make the best stocking fillers around the holiday season!
This is what we call the ‘jackpot’ in gift buying circles.
Alright, so that might not be true, but this is still a veritable goldmine of literary-related gifts! It’s literally in the company name!
These guys cover all bases as well with gifts ranging from posters, homeware and mugs to bookends, wrapping paper to my favourite, ‘Poetry Instead of a Card’.
I found out about this gem after I was given a tote bag featuring the cover of Le Petit Prince! Made of super durable canvas and sporting some pretty snazzy blue handles, I still use it to this day, several years later.
For those of you not in the UK, Waterstones is a national bookstore chain and they have a totally glorious section of stationary and gifts.
Some of them are silly and not at all literary-related but most stick to that theme and any book lover – British or otherwise – is probably gonna love something from this site.
What I love about their online store is that they offer suggested categories from Bestselling to Gifts for Rebel Girls – what’s not to love about that?!
I found The Nerdery on instagram just by looking through hashtags (really fantastic way to waste time by the way) and I’m officially obsessed!
Book Jumpers are a thing of the future people and you’ve got a chance to get in on the ground floor. Like, I don’t even know why I haven’t thought of these it’s just so logical – I love it!
I haven’t got around to getting one of these bad boys yet, but as someone who always has a paperback kicking about my bag this would get some hefty use.
They also come in a bunch of cute patterns, and commissions are available as well so you can give your bookish pal an awesome book jumper in a snazzy pop culture relevant fabric! Win/win!
I have a couple of the pins and stickers from this site and let me say, each one is cuter than the last!
Better yet they have a section just for book lovers! The ‘Just One More Chapter’ pin from this collection is proudly displayed on my leather jacket.
I was given mine as a random little gift from my Mum, they’re actually perfect for that in fact because these beauts won’t break the bank. Throw a couple in with the main gift to bring a smile to any bookworm’s face!
They also have loads of other collections worth checking out, my personal favourite at the moment is Earthlings. It speaks to me.
Paddywax Candles, Jane Austen
I only came across Paddywax very recently but aren’t they so cool? I’m obsessed with the branding on these, it’s old school rustic chic and would look on point in anyone’s home library (even if that’s just a couple of bookshelves like mine!)
In particular, I’m talking about the Library collection they have, named after some of literature’s heaviest hitters. Apparently, each candle is supposed to make you think of its literary namesake – pictured above is their Jane Austen version.
Each one comes in various different sizes and features a quote from that specific author – cool right?!
Racerback Running T-Shirt
Shout out to all my gym loving bookworms out there!
I’m not one of them. I go for a run like 5 times a year and that’s about the extent of that.
Saying that, if I were particularly fitness inclined you can bet I’d own all the Activate Apparel racerbacks.
As well as having a bunch of hilarious book related puns on their shirts, they also have a massive pop culture section so you can have your workouts give a not-so-subtle nod to various books, tv shows and hobbies.
These shirts will give any chiselled gym bunny a run for their money!
They ship from the US so keep an eye on shipping charges, but they regularly have decent discounts available so you can get even more bang for your buck.
Mini Book Necklace Tutorial by Darice
This tutorial is so simple it’s not even funny, and on top of that the end result is freakin’ adorable and any bookworm is bound to adore it!
You can pick up the mini books on Amazon for a couple of quid, and the rest of materials a very easy to get ahold of.
Give your bookish buddy a super thoughtful and unique pressie by taking a little time to craft a gift. They’ll love you even more for it!
Krukru Studio Etsy
Remember the book bag you used to take to school with you back when you were just a nipper? Well, these book bags are a lot freakin’ cooler!
When I was scrolling through the shop while writing this post I spotted about 10 that I need to have in my life right now!
These stunning creations will head your way all the way from Moscow and are available in a number of different sizes so you’ll be set for anything life throws at you!
They are little on the more expensive end of the list entries here, but Merlin’s beard do they look like they’re worth every penny! I challenge you to find a book lover who wouldn’t worship one of these added to their wardrobe!
So there you have it! I hope this gave you a little inspiration for amazing gift ideas.
If you have any favourite haunts for picking up bookish gifts then please share – I’m always looking for new stores to throw my money at!
